Meet the Team

Ciaran

Hi I’m Ciaran the Co founder of North West Fitness Acadmey.
I have been involved in sports from an early age Boxing and Football were the two sports that I put allot of my attention towards in my youth.
Having both sports throughout I feel have really stood to me.
Having the Social aspect of Football where you are in a team envoirment and then with the Boxing it up to you at the end of the day to get the result.
You can blame no one but yourself if you are to be successful or not.
I have always had a passion for Fitness and looking after myself but to be honest it was never something I believed I could see myself doing as an occupation.
When I was growing up I would see Personal Trainers in Gyms behind a desk being receptionists the most of the time.
That was something that never interested me.
Since then the Health and Fitness Industry has changed with Fitness Studios being more Client Focused.
Now the general population has a session to go to in the gym not just jump on a treadmill for a few minutes and walk around the gym floor not knowing what to do next.
Once I seen the way Health & Fitness was heading that was something that interested me.
Its reminds me of the two sports I grew to love growing up a Combination of Football and Boxing.
Working out with likeminded people building that social aspect like football but also the boxing it’s up to you at the end of the day to achieve a required result
Yes we are there with you step by step but it’s ultimately up to you to get what you want out of the Training and Nutrition.
I love the business I’m in and helping people achieve Results they never thought possible is just the icing on the cake.

Rachel

Hi, I’m Rachel and I am one of the trainers at North West Fitness Academy.

From a very young age I have always had a keen interest in sport. I have been involved in many sporting circles from Gaelic, Soccer, Boxing, Horse Riding, Basketball and even Table Tennis to name a few. Each sport bringing its own acheivments, challengenges and learning. Being involved in so many sports has its ups and downs, from representing my country, county, club and self to the devasting blows of losing All-Irelands, but each experience has led me to the person I am today.

Many times I would say to myself, “why do i do this to myself, year in year out, put so much hard work and dedication and then get disappointment in return” but I also found turning to excerise always lifted my spirts and got my competitive juices flowing again.

I look back at the end of the year and see the hard work I have put in and the results and fitness levels I achieved along with the strong friendships and craic, and its worth every second, every heart ache, every tear and laugh.

I graduated with a level 8 health promotion degree. Not knowing where my life was going, decisons had to be made. Travel, further my education or apply for a job that was sent to me by family and friends, thinking this job was made for me. I could never imagine having the confidence to become a Coach at the NWF, it was completely out of my comfort zone.

I was quite shy and reserved especially in front of large groups of people, how would I stand up there and tell people what to do, the nerves were shocking. Would I fit in, would I make a difference, could I help people reach there fitness goals. I decided it was time to stop over thinking and just give it a go. I was offered a trial and after that the Job. I am delighted to say I have never looked back. I love my Job and I am constantly trying to better myself so I can help our clients.

Hearing feedback from people on how much I have grown as a person since I first started is amazing. I have met some great people in this job and love training all the different types of people that step inside the doors at North West. Helping and encouraging people to achieve their goals is a massive bonus of the job.

We live in a society where people are constantly comparing themselves to others, always looking for more and doubting themselves because of what others might think of them.

But a quote I standby and continue to develop on is to “Get comfortable being uncomfortable” the benefits outweigh everything else.

If you are undecided about starting your fitness journey, just give it a go.

What have you got to lose.
